War Memorial to SW of St Peter's
Church, Lich Gates

GV II

War memorial. Unveiled 1922. Sandstone ashlar. Tall structure
with square base on 2 round steps; plinth has weathered
capping with recessed squat pinnacles with foliated caps,
raised lettering in sunk bands; shaft has rebated angles with
fillets; base has town arms to front, wreathed cartouches to
returns; upper niches have figures of St George to front,
soldier and pilot to returns and sailor to rear; stepped cap.
A good example with figure of pilot, a rare feature.
