House. C17, remodelled early C19. Rendered walls except for
slatehanging to first floor of right-hand wall of rear wing.
Hipped asbestos slate roof except for grouted scantle slate
over small lean-to at rear; brick stack on right. Originally a
T-shaped plan, extended early C19 with parallel rear wing on
the right. 2 storeys; 2-window-range front. Early C19
sixteen-pane hornless sashes over C20 bay windows in wider
openings and central datestone inscribed P H A 1687 over
doorway with C20 panelled door within early C19 panelled
reveals and a later C19 wooden latticed porch with
round-arched doorway. Right-hand side wall has 3 early C19
twelve-pane sashes and one C20 horned copy to first-floor
left. Late C18 planked door with wooden latch in angle to
original rear wing. Gothic style 2-light mullioned window to
rear lean-to. INTERIOR: C17 chamfered ceiling joists to front
rooms; (boarded under to left-hand room); plank and muntin
partitions to either side of central through passage; late C18
dogleg staircase with stick balusters; C18 two-panel door to
stair cupboard; elliptical arch to rear of right-hand front
room and early C19 turned mahogany fragment from former Red
Lion in Truro, reused as newel post to short flight of steps
from half-landing into chamber of early C19 wing.
