Villa, divided into flats. c1840s with later alterations.
Roughcast, originally stuccoed; hipped slate roof behind
parapet; stacks with rendered shafts with projecting cornices.
PLAN: Double-depth retangular plan with central entrance on
Lower Woodfield Road side.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 3-bay east front with left and right pilaster
strips and a plain band below deep projecting cornice with
parapet above. Centre bay breaks forward and has pedimented
gable. Projecting flat-roofed central porch with pilasters and
parapet, somewhat obscured by late C20 canopy on columns; C20
outer doors. Ground-floor window right is a 9-pane sash
with a floating cornice on consoles. First floor centre and
right windows have 12-pane sashes, blind window to left; single-storey flat-roof extension to left on porch. Similar south side, but without porch, additions and alterations; right-hand bay blind windows. Principal 3-bay west elevation, the outer bays with pediments and broad pilasters, the narrow centre bay has aedicule on ground floor and shallow niche above, 12-pane sashes to first floor and French casements on ground floor; lower flat roof extension on left (NW) corner. Various later additions on north side.
INTERIOR: much altered by its conversions to flats.
Although altered this is an important item in the group of villas around Torwood Gardens.
