Marked on OS map as Dalton House.
House, now offices. Mid C19. Stucco with limestone dressings,
ashlar ridge stacks and a slate hip roof. Double-depth plan.
Italianate style. 2 storeys, basement and attic; 3-window
range. Lower 3-window block to the right.
A symmetrical front has chamfered quoins, string and deep
eaves. Pennant steps up to a deeply recessed 2-leaf
half-glazed door, with shutters set in the reveals, narrow
stained-glass side lights and a rectangular overlight.
Tripartite ground-floor windows with panels beneath,
architraves and keys; the middle first-floor window is set in
a projecting panel with a shouldered architrave and faceted
key, flanked by late C19 sashes.
The side block has a tripartite window with a central hornless
4/4-pane sash to the left of a tented verandah to a C20 door
and window, and 6/6-pane plain sash above. Between the 2
central stacks is a raised C20 dormer.
INTERIOR: glazed screen with a semicircular overlight to a
central hall with a patterned tiled floor and modillion
cornice, 3/4 red granite Corinthian columns to semicircular
arches, central dogleg stair to the right with cast-iron
balusters and a rail that curves down to a carved mythical
beast at the bottom, and a large stained-glass stair light on
the half-landing; rear left-hand room has scagliola columns;
6-panel doors, 4-panel shutters and marble fireplaces.
