Includes: No.1 Glen Abbot COTHAM PARK Cotham. Pair of attached houses. c1840. Limestone ashlar with rendered sides, roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Italianate style. 2 storeys, basement and attic; 7-window range. A symmetrical front is divided by a narrow central recess, with ground-floor bows and entrances in the ends; a moulded plinth, banded rustication on the ground floor to a dentil entablature which runs round the tops of the bows, paired first-floor pilasters to a console cornice and attic storey with a moulded coping. The right-hand doorway faces Cotham Park, and is set in a projecting 2-storey block with paired pilasters to an entablature, a 2-leaf door with a moulded panel and rectangular overlight; a similar single-storey block at the other side with, across the angle with the house, a curved porch on Pennant steps with Tuscan columns to a 2-leaf half-glazed door. 3-light bays with pilasters to plate-glass sashes, below paired first-floor windows with architraves and console cornices, to 6/6-pane sashes on the left and horned 2/2-pane sashes on the right; the centre section has 1 plate-glass sash, with a balustrade below that on the first floor; attic windows have moulded jambs to 3/3-pane sashes to the left and C20 casements to the right; basement has 3/3-pane sashes. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: spear-headed railings at the rear to steps down to basement entrance below left-hand porch. Nos 17-35 share a common plan and many external details.
