Three attached houses. c1840. Limestone ashlar with brick
stacks, roof not visible. Double-depth plan. Jacobethan style.
3 storeys, basement and attic; 7-window range.
3 tall, elaborate keyed and shaped gables, the middle taller,
the outer ones projecting with 2-storey canted bays and
full-height entrance blocks set back at the ends; outer gables
have faceted quoins up to a cornice and a wide first-floor
band. The side doorways have open porches with square, flared
columns with panelled sides and moulded bases and capitals, a
semicircular arch in an open frame, a 6-panel door and a
mullion over-light.
The bays have mullion and transom windows and openwork
parapets, with cross windows above them and across the first
floor, with plate-glass sashes and 2/2-pane sashes below the
transoms; a plain doorway to the left of the central section
has a 6-panel door and rectangular plate-glass overlight, and
to the right a 3-light window; second-floor windows have
strapwork panels above, and an attic window has an ornate
architrave; plain C20 windows to the centre of each floor.
INTERIOR not inspected. An unusual picturesque silhouette to a
standard attached house plan.
