House, now Social Services Centre. Mid C19.
Stucco; graduated Welsh slate roof with hipped gable and
mansard wing; 2 stucco ridge stacks.
2 storeys and cellar; 4-window range: 3 margin-glazed
casements in moulded cases in square headed splayed reveals,
and similar casement with Gothick glazed head under 4-centred
arch; moulded wood eaves. Canted bay windows to advanced bays,
with margin-glazed French windows, and lights, with coloured
leaded clerestory lights; margin-glazed French windows and
overlights under cast-iron verandah with lead roof on enriched
columns.
Left returned side: entrance porch with half-glazed double
doors under 4-centred arch, and parapet; to right, canted bay
with margin-glazed French windows and overlight; two 2-light
casements over.
Wing to left, with margin-glazed casements.
INTERIOR: open well staircase with turned balusters and
moulded rail; staircase light. 1st floor: 6-panel doors with
architraves; skirting; panlled shutters; coved ceiling;
picture and dado rails; reveals.
Ground floor: 6-panel doors with panelled reveals, and
architraves; lined arch to staircase hall; hall opening with
brackets, marble pillars, panelling, and screen with arched
wood cornice on fluted posts; fireplace with corniced hood on
fluted pillars; marble fireplace; friezes, ceiling cornices
and roses; picture and dado rails; mutilated cornices to
kitchen; beaded return to arches. Cellar: 4-panel door;
stone-lined; flagstone floors; plank door; wine bins.
