GV II

Row of 3 houses, set high and well back from the street. Early
C19. Ham Hill stone ashlar with continuous slate roof and
brick stacks to gable ends and party walls. Stepped stone
coping with moulded kneeler to right gable end; limestone
rubble right return with inset brick flues.
2 storeys; Nos 33 & 35 are symmetrical 3-window range, No.35
is 2-window range. No.33 to the left (west) is painted render
with late C19 two/two-pane sashes and C20 door with overlight.
The central house, No.35, has all 8/8-pane sashes, C20 door
and overlight with lozenge-shaped panes. No.35A to the right,
has steps up to an entrance through a passage to the left;
this has a round arch with overlight. The 2 first-floor
windows are 8/8-pane sashes, the ground floor, probably once a
shop, has been built out to the street front with a C20
restaurant. INTERIORS not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: A Flemish-bond revetment wall, dentilled
below stone coping, has steps up to the left-hand house, and
Ham Hill stone gate piers flanking the steps up to No.33. The
left gate pier, with a cornice and pyramidal cap, is connected
to the house by a rubblestone wall, and supports spearhead
railings which front the terrace; the right gate pier is
reconstructed to a larger scale as the quoin of the
restaurant.
