GV II
Artillery store, now public shelter. 1795-1802. Coursed stone
rubble. Slated roof. A simple small oblong with wide doorway
on east side, facing the magazine and beyond it, the site of
the gun battery. 1 storey with loft. Front has doorway flanked
by 2 large windows. All 3 have deep rectangular holes in the
jambs, presumably connected with securing the door and window
frames. Plain hatch with wood lintel in top of north gable.
INTERIOR: the loft floor has plain beams and joists, probably
C20. Pye and Slater describe the roof as 'of relatively recent
date'.
