Terraced houses. Nos 44-46 of 1774, and developed by Richard Masefield; nos 47-49 occuped by 1772; nos 50-53 of 1768, and developed by Josiah Collins. Brown brick with red gauged brick dressings, roof of clay tiles except no 50 (Welsh slate) and possibly also no 51 which has been asphalted. Three and four storeys over basement with dormers in attic, three windows each. Nos 44, 47-9 and 52-3 have round-arched entrances with doorcases consisting of engaged Doric columns supporting entablature and open pediment; no 45 has simple doorcase, impost blocks and round arch of gauged red brick; no 46 has lost most features except cornice on consoles; no 50 has stucco architrave with cornice, no 51 a simple moulded doorcase with cornice; fanlights, and some original panelled doors. All windows flat-arched with heads of gauged red brick except that those to no 52 (ground and first floors), and no 53 have been painted or plastered over. No 44 has plain narrow stucco architraves. Storey band above ground floor. Parapet; dormers in mansard roof to fourth floor except that the front of nos 47 and 49-50 rise to four floors with parapet, and dormer in mansard roof above that. Cast-iron railings to area of no 44 and occasionally elsewhere, but chiefly replacement. (Historians' file, English Heritage London Division).
