Barn 10 metres east of Little Beacon
Hill Farmhouse

Barn. C16. Timber-framed with dwarf brick walls and
weatherboarding above. Roof gabled at E and half hipped at W,
factory made flat tiles. 5 bays, midstrey at 2nd bay from W
C19 extension at SW with pantiled roof and C20 wooden window.
INTERIOR: earliest interior framing survives at W and E ends.
W end has widely spaced studs, tension braced and grooves for
wattle and daub. E end arched braced. Halved and bridled
scarfs. Rewalling in sone areas of C17/C18 type. Roof
throughout C17/C18 butt purlin type but rebuilt in C19 to
inferior standard. C19 extension has old brick floor in part.
The barn forms a group with Little Beacon Hill Farmhouse (qv).
