(Formerly Listed as CROWTHERS HILL
Conduit (next south-east corner of No.12))
Includes: Conduit approximately 3 metres to south of No.6
SOUTH FORD ROAD.
Water conduit. Built in 1599, rebuilt in 1847, according to
the date plaque. Stone rubble laid to rough courses with
painted sandstone dressings. Oblong block of masonry
projecting from the corner of No.4. Crenellated parapet.
Narrower northern end onto South Ford Road appears to have
housed the tap since there is an iron plate protected by a
pair of projecting iron hoops. Plaque above carved with the
muncipal seal and the date 1599, recut c1985. Another plaque
on the east side onto Crowthers Hill records the rebuild of
the conduit in 1847 when N Clift was mayor.
