Former dock offices. c1810, with early C19
addition in the same style. Red brick with painted ashlar
dressings and hipped slate roofs with single side wall and
rear wall stacks. Plinth, sill bands, first-floor band, eaves
cornice and blocking course. 2 storeys; 8-window range of
12-pane sashes with brick flat arches, arranged 5:3. Original
block, to left, has a projecting centre, 3 windows, under a
pediment containing a roundel. Above again, an octagonal
wooden cupola with lead dome, finial and weather vane. Below,
a shallow portico with paired Doric columns and dentillated
cornice, covering a panelled double door with sidelights and a
segmental overlight with round panes. On either side, 2
windows. Addition, to right, has 3 windows on each floor. Left
return has 5 windows, and below, a blocked doorway with
glazing bar fanlight, flanked to left by 3 windows and to
right by a single window. Right return has a blank flanked to
right by a single window, and below, a blank flanked to right
by a blocked round-headed door with fanlight. INTERIOR has a
top lit elliptical hall with stone stair.
