House, later public house, now split into house, shop and
flat, with entrance to auction mart. Late C18 house with c1870
alterations to left part as separate house. Coursed squared
sandstone with painted ashlar dressings; stone slate roof with
stone ridge and gable coping and stone chimneys.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 4-window range. 2-bay house at left
altered c1870 in Gothic style, with steps up to 8-panel door
and shaped overlight in chamfered shouldered surround with
alternate-block jambs; iron bar fixed above door. Canted bay
window to right of door has chamfers with run-off stops and
steeply-pitched stone slate hipped roof. Segmental vehicle
arch in third bay has projecting keystone to voussoirs, and
boarded double doors. Adjacent to this is low stone surround
to 6-panel door in third bay.
Shop front at right has tiled stall-risers to projecting
square bay, and half-glazed right door, with fascia breaking
forward over folding canopy with hinged iron stays. Plain
sashes in bay window and with flat stone lintels and
projecting stone sills on first floor, the lintels against the
eaves. Low-pitched roof has right end gable coping with
chamfered section over eroded kneeler, and central and right
end chimneys with bands. INTERIOR: not inspected.
