8/112 Purnell House
II

Detached house. Late C18; mid C19 addition. Roughcast on random
rubble marlstone; coursed rubble limestone to rear wing; brick
chimney; stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic; 2-storey rear
wing to form L-plan; lean-to additions in angle and at south end.
Front: 2-window fenestration, all original leaded casements with
timber mullions in segmental-arched openings. Doorway to right has
flat timber porch hood on brackets and plank door. Single-storey
lean-to to right with C20 casement. North side: single-window
leaded casement fenestration in segmental-arched openings.
Roughcast removed at ground floor level. C20 casements to wing
extending to left. South end: lean-to with brick chimney; off-
centre attic casement to main gable with cut down brick ridge-
mounted chimney. Rear: wing extends forward to right. Various
later lean-to additions.
Interior: many original fittings. Main casements have panelled
shutters. Original front door with contemporary ironmongery. Rear
wing formerly contained cider mill.
