House and stables. Dated and inscribed over entrance I.S. 1677 and I.S. 1717
over rear door, with early C19 stables. Coursed red sandstone rubble walls,
under graduated sandstone slate roof with coped gables and kneelers; dressed red
sandstone chimney stacks on rebuilt rubble bases. 2 storeys, 4 bays with left
2-storey, 3-bay stables. Off-centre C20 door in C17 chamfered surround with
dated lintel; 3-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows and smaller firewindows
on upper-floor, under continuous hoodmould on ground-floor and continuous
dripmould above upper-floor windows. Stables have right panelled door and
overlight in stone surround and left segmental-arched cart entrance, under sash
windows with glazing bars in stone surrounds. Right return wall has
ground-floor C20 window under C17 windows. Interior has segmental-arched
inglenook and beamed ceiling, in principal room. Former built-in panelled court
cupboard also dated and inscribed IS 1677, has been moved to a free-standing
position. A similar ground-floor stone-arched inglenook has been removed.
