Former lodge, now small detached house. c1820. Possibly by G S Repton for
Edward Sheppard. Coursed rubble limestone; ashlar dressings; plain tile roof.
Circular with rectangular addition; 2-storey. Original circular lodge has 3 doorway
recesses to ground floor at 120? intervals, each with concave recessed wall and pair
of Tuscan columns supporting wall above; trefoil-headed panels to doors. Single
2-light chamfered mullioned casement over each doorway and at mid points between
doorway positions. Hollow moulded cornice with plain parapet over; conical roof.
Geometrical arrangement of lodge interrupted by addition with C20 two-light mullioned
casements and glazed doors. Regency iron canopy to ground floor on west front.
Interior not inspected. In isolated position, but located near track through woods
that made circuitous approach to The Ridge, a house now demolished in Wotton-Under-
Edge CP.
