Pair of houses, now house and shop. Mid C18, altered C19 and C20. Sandstone ashlar at ground floor, otherwise coursed dressed sandstone with ashlar dressings and raised quoins. Slate roof. Double-depth 2-unit plan with rear extensions. 3 storeys over cellars, each house single-fronted and of 2 bays. No.50 altered at ground floor. No.48 has a doorway to the left, with shouldered architrave within narrow pilasters terminating in scrolled consoles which in turn support brackets carved as lion-masks, and a prominent moulded cornice. To the right, a shuttered cellar opening, a 4-pane sashed window with raised plain surround, and a plain band at 1st floor. The upper floors of the whole each have 4 similar windows, and a hollow-moulded eaves cornice. Gable chimney stacks. Rear: central 2-storey extension under carried-down roof containing staircase, and a 2-light mullioned window on each floor of the outer bays. No.48 was listed on 18.2.70.
