Former Noah's Ark Inn

Public house, used during C20 as office for market hall,
currently empty and being refurbished in connection with
shopping centre. Possibly early C16 with C19 refronting.
Ashlar; slate roof with tile cresting and brick end stacks.
L-plan. Tudor style. 2 storeys with attic; 4-window range with
rounded angle to right return. Cornices over both floors and
top coped parapet. 2-storey canted bay window has 2:3:2-light
ovolo-mullioned-and-transomed windows; ground floor has
cross-mullioned window to left, entrance with mullioned
overlight to right and right end light; 1st floor has small
lights with dripstones flanking bay, and larger right end
light; gabled dormer window over bay. Angle has single lights
to both floors, ground floor cornice stepped up to angle and
to right return, which has similar details to front, with
shallower roof pitch. INTERIOR inaccessible but recorded as
having chamfered beams and joists. Local tradition records
visit by Elizabeth I on her way to Stafford Castle.
