Farmhouse and barn adjoining. Circa early to mid C17. Rendered stone rubble and
cob. Scantle and rag slate roof with gable ends and brick end stacks. Parallel
Two room and cross or through passage plan with central entrance. Parallel range
added to rear in circa C19 to produce a double depth plan.
Two storeys, regular three window front with C20 PVC windows in original sash
openings. Ground floor; C20 part glazed door in central circa C19 stone rubble porch
with rag slate roof. Flanked by two windows with three above.
Rear elevation partly remodelled in C20. Attached on right hand gable end barn with
horse engine house. Circa late C18 or early C19. Stone rubble. Rag slate roof with
gable end on left, hipped end on right and hipped end to projection for horse engine
house on front left. Slate coated with bitumen on rear. Rectangular plan with horse
engine house on front left. Single storey elevation with plank doors to openings.
Interior: not accessible.
Carlyon is illustrated in a painted panel of circa 1690 at Trevelver (qv).
