House. Late C17, mid C19 porch and alterations, C20 alterations. Rubble, stone
dressings and quoins, ashlar, plain tiled and slate roofs with raised coped verges
and finials to gables, 9-stone diagonal stacks with cornices in centre of roof,
stone slate roof to porch. All facades symmetrical except right return, 2 gables
to ridge height to each elevation. 2½ storeys and 3 windows, ground floor has
two 4-light casements with ovolo mullions and king mullion, high relieving arch
rising from weathered string above head of windows, first floor has 2 similar
3-light casements and central 2-light casement without relieving arch, attic has
similar 2-light casement in each gable with hood mould, all windows with C19
glazing, leaded lights in Gothic diamond pattern; central gabled porch in ashlar,
4-centred arched opening with foliage in spandrels, hood mould and mask stops,
blank shield and pennant in gable, large side light with leaded lights left and
right, 4-centred arch to inner C20 door with hood mould and blank shield. Left
return as front, central studded C19 door with chamfered cambered head and
relieving arch, no string courses, larger first floor central window and at apex
of each gable an oval bull's eye with leaded lights. Right return has windows to
left as at left return, 2-storey addition to right (formerly apple loft), ground
floor right has 2-light casement with hood mould, 2 single lights of 8 panes each
at first floor; 2-storey wing to right with corrugated iron roof, 4-light
casement at ground floor as on front, C20 door and 4-light C20 window. Rear has
two 4-light casements at ground floor as on front, central tall 2-light window
lighting stair with high relieving arch, first floor has two 3-light windows as on
front and central 2-light window set high with hood mould under eaves, 2-light
window with hood mould in each gable; C20 flat-roofed porch to left and C20 door.
To left, former attached stable block, carriage entry with cambered head, blocked,
with C20 window inserted, small window to left, oval pitching eye above, 2 windows
at ground floor and one at first, all C20, wing to left with oval pitching eye and
door. Interior: front right room has stone fireplace with bolection-moulded
surround and overmantel, good C19 hobgrate with Perpendicular tracery; rear right
room has similar fireplace and carved spice cupboard with cock's head hinges and
elaborate latch; C19 straight stone stair to rear with wreathed handrail and
