C1870. Early red brick terrace of 3 storey town houses. Two bay fronts.
Slate roofs with small modillion brackets in eaves band, revealed sash
windows to upper floors with stucco sills. Those on first floor with grooved
stucco flat arches and keystones. Most retain glazing bars. No 40 has had
C1900 bay windows and dormer inserted. All except No 42 have late C19 or C20
bay windows on ground floor. No 42 retains original tripartite window with
slender necked columns dividing and thin pilaster flanking, small oval
panels set above capitals in frieze, shallow moulded cornice with very slight
break over centre light. Apart from No 44 all houses retain doorways of
engaged slender Tuscan columns with sections of entablature, decorated with
oval rosettes, supporting open pediments. Most retain 6 panel doors, fanlight.
