Padstow Institute, now also used partly as library and museum. 1881-2 erected by
public subscription. Brick, bitumen coated slate roof with gable ends and gable end
to front right. Brick end stacks.
Plan: Double depth plan comprising library reading room, large meeting room and
snooker and billards room with museum on first floor. On corner site with east
elevation to Market Place and north elevation to Duke Street.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 4 window east front with right hand side set slightly
forward. Entrance near centre with panelled door and brick door surround surmounted
by brick pediment. 3 original sashes to left and triple sash to right. 2 moulded
brick string course above ground floor. Left hand side of first floor has a canted
oriel window with slate turretted roof and original glazing flanked by 2 original
sashes. To right, tripartite sash with roundel in gable directly above.
Interior: Partly complete with C19 fittings.
