Almshouses, founded 1615. Roughcast on stone plinth, stone
slate roof with 5 rendered ridge stacks, stone moulded eaves
cornice. Single long range, 2 storeys. 2 single end doors and 4
paired doors with flat stone hoods on brackets, some partially
blocked to form windows. 13 3-light leaded stone mullioned
windows on first floor. Replaced 3-light timber casements on
ground floor (during modernisation of 1954). Centre inscription
panel with gilt lettering: "These Almhouses for eight men and
eight women Parishioners of Newland and the habitation adjoining
for a lecturer, were founded A.D.1615 by Mr. William Jones, Citizen
and Haberdasher of London; and he appointed the Worshipful Company
of Haberdashers Governors".
