On Woolwich Road, 3 massive, rusticated stone piers, mid C19. The centre one
has round headed niche with keystone supporting cornice. Overthrow of frieze
and cornice from centre to right pier forms end of entrance loggia. 2 pairs
of double wrought Iron gates, on to this loggia the other to drive at left.
Outer piers have ball finials. East wall of multicoloured stock brick with round,
moulded red brick coping. Stone inserted near corner with inscription "Greenwich
Hospital, 1857."
