Parish Church. Mainly C14, restored C19. Stone, Slate roof, tiles to
chancel. Embattled tower with stair turret on S.W., nave with clerestory,
aisle, south porch. Chancel 1861 by William Burges. Good C14 Decorated
style tracery to aisle windows. E. window a large plate tracery design
by Burges. Interior nave has 4 bays of moulded piers and arches,
rectangular 1 light clerestory windows, plastered barrel vaulted roof,
Plastered walls. Fittings : Medieval and C19 fonts, pier dated 1651.
Monuments Brass in N.aisle floor thought to be Richard Ruthall 1528.
Man in armour and wife. Wall monuments C19 and early C20 to members of
Carrington family include on the north wall Robert 2nd. Baron Carrington
by Lerolle of Paris 1868 : brass tablet with elaborate baroque surround
of bronze; and Lady Carrington his wife, white marble with delicate
rococo style ornament by Boehm, undated.
