Farmhouse. Possibly C17 with later alterations. Squared coursed sandstone
rubble and timber-frame partly rendered to right, concrete tile roof. Rear
external sandstone side stack with brick shaft and brick ridge stack.
Rectangular plan aligned north-west/south-west. Cellar and two storeys.
North elevation has two windows, 2-light late C19 to early C20 casements,
one to centre and one to left-hand side beneath each of which is an early
C19 casement, that to the left of two lights and that to the right of four
lights. Two entries, one between the two ground floor casements with a C17
nailed and studded ledged door under a late C19 gabled canopy, the other,
6-panelled, to the right-hand side which is unrendered. South elevation
has external stack to right and catslide roof over exposed timber-framing
to left. Interior (not inspected) reported by RCHM as having c1700 staircase
and fireplace. Attached to north-east end are the remains of a cross-wing
which has been demolished down to low walls at the north-west end of which
is a 2-light mullioned window formerly serving the north-west end of the
cellar beneath the cross-wing. (RCHM, Vol I, p 88).
