I Vrien Verney, Esq. the sixth of seven Sonnes and two Daughters of Sir Ralphe Verney, Knt. at his death made this monumente for myself and my wife Lettice Verney, Daughter of Sir George Giffard, Knt. by whome I had yssue one Sonne Edmunde Verney, and I the survivour of my six Brothers and two Daughters, the one maryed to Sir Francis Hynde, Knyght, and the other to Sir Nicholas Poyntz, Knt.
