Description

SY 3693 CHARMOUTH THE STREW,
SOUTH SIDE

8/42 Badgers and Foxley
Cottage

- II

2 attached cottages, formerly one farmhouse, circa Cl7 and C18. Stone walls,
plastered and washed. Thatch roof with attached gable ends. One C20 brick
stack on ridge: this stack of Badgers backs on to the former cross-passage,
the one original house. Foxley, therefore, forms the cross-passage and
original kitchen. 2 storeys. 4 windows, 3-light wooden casements with 2
windows having glazing bars. Porches: Badgers is glazed with a pitched
asbestos slate roof, C20. Foxley is rendered with a square head and a slate
gabled roof over. Interior Foxley: wide, fielded-panel door. Raised and
(probably) jointed crucks, with big through-purlins. 3 trusses survive,
collar beam to middle truss. Staircase with mid-C18 baluster rail at top.
