Description

SK 80 NW BROOKE

1/60 Home Farmhouse

II

House, probably largely of C17 but with additions that are probably C19.
Coursed rubble with diamond tiled roof. 1½ storeys, 3 unit plan with single
bay left of door with 2-light casement with chamfered timber lintel. Doorway
also has chamfered timber lintel, and right of it, a curious arrangement
of windows on both floors: ground floor has squared bay and slightly projecting
window with wood mullions the outer ones coursed, and small panes over which
is an ashlar projection, sloping in to a narrower projecting upper dormer.
Over the dormer, 2 corbels carry a 1½ timbered gable. Right of this window
is a canted wood mullioned bay window and another gabled dormer above. Dormers
to left of elevation have catslide roofs. Coped gables - 2 gables and one
axial old brick stacks. To the right of the house is a half hipped and catslide
roofed outshut with pantiled roof and a tiny upper window.
