GV I

North Stable Block. c.1670. Dressed stone walls. Stone slab roof,
with stone gable-copings. One storey with attics over. The south
elevation has doorways towards each end, each with eared architrave,
pulvinated frieze and pediment over. Between the doorways, 6 windows,
2-light mullion-and-transom design, with ovolo moulds, same architrave,
frieze and pediment as doorways. Cast-iron casements with many
glazing-bars and small lights. Doorways, fitted with original doors.
Pitch door on east gable-end with same architrave moulding.
Interior: West end, tack room. Cobble flooring and stone drain.
Large stalls, partitioning has original posts with moulded bases and
capitals. Transverse staircase to attics, at centre. Roof construction
similar to south range, (q,v.).
