Originally one house called "Myrtle Cottage". One of earliest "Cottages"
in Sidmouth. Keble brought a reading party here in 1813. Long irregular
2 storey stucco front. 3 storeys in gables. 2 gables of different sizes,
one very steeply pitched. Much picturesque "Gothicised" detail: ornamental
bargeboards and eaves fascias, oriel windows and pointed casements scale
shaped lights to heads of some of them. Some glazing bars missing, others
with diamond glazing pattern. Splayed 'Gothic' bay to ground floor.
The house is shut in with high trees.
