Description

WORLINGWORTH FINGAL STREET
TM 26 NW
5/118 Yew Tree Farmhouse
- II
Farmhouse. C16 with C17 alterations. Timber framed and plastered under a
thatched roof. 1½ storeys. 3-cell form. Various casement windows, mainly of
C18-C19 date. 2 C20 doors. 2 gabled dormers with plaintiled surrounds.
Internal stack with small shaft. Set back to the left is a small addition,
also plastered and thatched; one 4-light mullion and transom window without
glazing bars. A lean-to addition on the right gable end. The ground floor
ceiling shows evidence for alteration, possibly the result of changes in the
heating arrangements. A low cross-beam in the hall may relate to a former
smoke bay. The end bay of the parlour is a C17 addition: on the ground floor
there is evidence for studding and a diamond-mullioned window at the old end.
Queen-post roof. C18-C19 newel stair. Interior not fully examined.
