Lodge to the Priory (qv), now local museum. c1852. Walter
Hitch, Ware builder. Red-brown stock brick, Flemish bond,
Welsh slated roof, brick chimney. Single storey, projecting
canted bay window with brick spandrel, mullioned wood casement
windows with glazing bars, and low lead-covered hipped roof.
Entrance set back at right, re-set C17 studded panelled door
beneath cambered arch, gable end has pierced, fretted moulded
barge boards. Associated with No.87 adjoining (qv), and is a
visual stop in views westwards along the south side of the
High Street. Included for group value.
