Bridge (that part in Poole District) and bridge approach.
1813, with C19 and C20 repairs. By John Dyson, engineer.
Coursed squared Portland stone and Portland stone ashlar to
bridge, coursed squared carstone, carstone ashlar and red
brick to approach.
Bridge spans the River Stour and has 3 elliptical arches,
pointed cutwaters either side and solid parapet with moulded
stone coping and square terminal piers. Raised band at road
level. Arch stones have a lip which outlines the arch. Stone
in N pier of central arch facing S, not far above water level,
inscribed This BRIDGE finished/ in the Year 1813/ JOHN DYSON
Engineer/ JESSE BUSHROD Mason. S approach to bridge has 6
segmental arches, semicircular cutwaters and solid parapets of
red brick in English bond with stone coping. Raised stone band
at road level. Arches of red brick. Bridge carries the B3078
road.
