Art Gallery, formerly refreshment rooms. 1933-34. Designed by J. Grey West, chief architect of the Office of Works. Grey brick, red dressings; hipped tiled roof to eaves. Roughly square in plan. Single storeyed with two-storey core projecting upward in centre, surmounted by tall hipped roof and timber cupola (balustrade now missing). Flat roof to lower parts. Nine bays to sides, with centre three on three sides occupied by paired Doric columns and surmounted by balustrade. Open entrance recessed to north. Square-headed French windows with small panes and timber glazing bars. Taller part with half dormer windows having segmental pediments. Cornice. Two service wings attached to rear, treated in similar manner.
