Office building. 1898. C.E. Deacon. Stone with granite base. Northern renaissance style.Three storeys with basement and attic. Ground floor windows with carved jambs, arch and spandrels flanked by flat pilasters and surmounted by pediment. First and second floors have windows with mullions and transoms, these to centre bay recessed with segmental heads. Flanking two-storey oriels with decorated bases. Rich frieze between first and second floors and over second floor. Cornice and three dormers above richly ornamented, the outer ones with round pediments and balconies with lion sculptures. Central hall and stair with well for lift. Original doors, iron work and porter's lodge. Stained glass window with city arms to stair.
