BARROW IN FURNESS

GV II

Terrace of 5 houses. Late C19. Limestone rubble, graduated slate roof. 2 storeys and attic, each house with door on right of single window to each floor. Large quoins. Tall doorways have C20 doors and plain over-lights in raised surrounds with stopped chamfers. Projecting stone sill and thin surround to each window. No.32 has 6-pane sashes and No.34 has 4-pane sashes; otherwise later casements. Moulded wooden gutters except to Nos 30 & 31. Gabled roof dormers (with 6-pane sashes to Nos 32 & 34). Stacks at each end and on ridge at the party walls. Part of village rebuilding scheme undertaken for the Duke of Buccleuch. Included for group value.
