Pair of attached houses. c1850. Limestone ashlar with party
wall stacks and a slate mansard roof. Double-depth plan. Each
of 3 storeys, basement and attic; 2-window range. A
symmetrical front has narrow, shallow wings, with rusticated
ground floor and upper pilaster strips to corners and centre,
a plat band, second-floor band, frieze, cornice and a coped
parapet, pierced for the mansard windows. Outer single-storey
porches have semicircular-arched doorways with fanlights and
4-panel doors, beneath semicircular-arched first-floor stair
lights. Inner tripartite ground-floor windows with imposts,
timber tripartite windows above have stone balconies with slim
cast-iron railings and brackets; architraves to 6/6-pane
sashes, and 3/3-pane second-floor sashes. Narrow outer windows
have 1/2-pane sashes with margin panes, tallest on the first
floor. First-floor semicircular-arched stair windows in the
end returns. INTERIOR not inspected.
