GV II*

House. c1710 with late C18 L-wing. Exceptionally fine Queen
Anne front. Built of brown brick with red brick dressings with
steeply pitched tiled roof to front range and slate roof to
wing. 4 tall red brick chimneystacks. 2 storeys and attics. 5
windows to front, with 2 window spaces in end projection, 4
windows to left side elevation. Front has stone coping and
panelled parapet. Moulded terracotta eaves cornice 5 cambered
12-pane sashes with jalousies and centre brick keystones.
Recessed rectangular brick panels. Deep plinth. Central
doorcase with cornice, reeded pilasters, rectangular fanlight,
panelled reveals and 8-panelled double doors. Left side
elevation has 1 narrow 8-pane sash, 2 12-pane cambered sashes
and ground floor has two 3-light mullioned and transomed
windows. To the left is a projecting bay of diaper brickwork
with cambered 16-pane sash to 1st floor and cambered 6-pane
sash with horns to ground floor. External brick chimneystack
with tumbling in. Ragstone extension to rear.
Interior has fine main staircase of c1710 with 3 turned
balusters and scrolled tread ends and panelled hall with dado
rail. Right side ground floor room has dado panelling and an
C18 fireplace with eaved architrave, swags and panel with
carved basket of fruit. Subsidiary winder staircase with
turned balusters.
