2. Built as one property, a timber framed C15/C16 yeomans house, encased in coursed gritstone 1625, 2-storeys. Stone slate roof with saddlestones and kneelers. Projecting cross gable to left hand also with saddlestone and kneelers. External chimney stack to east side. Three and 4 light chamfered mullion windows with drip moulds. Doorway altered as 2 light chamfered mullion window to right hand, with 4 centred arch in square head and cornice on consoles supporting 2 shields inscribed I H and E H with central panel bearing date 1625. Present entrance circa 1800 to sides. Rear of No 443 has 7 light chamfered mullion window. The interior of No 443 has edged chamfered beams and wall posts exposed at the top of C18 stone tread staircase. King post roof truss and studding of original south gable end intact, the building was extended south circa 1625. The ground floor west room or parlour has a large chamfered jamb stone fireplace with massive shaped lintel. C17 oak panelling, some reset, the decorated panels possibly from a court cupboard. Bracket cornice crossing the panelling with fleur-de-lis frieze. First floor south-west corner bedroom has 4 centred arch chamfered jamb fireplace. The south-east ground floor room has reset C17 panelling, with fan pattern frieze. Reset fireplace dated 1682.
