Circa 1839 (date plaque) building in Gothick style fronting Newtown Road, formerly
part of a range linked to the Litten. Newtown Road (qv) and used by the Free School
in the C18 and C19; now part of St Bartholomew Hospital. One storey. Symmetrical
facade of 3 bays with higher centre over entrance. Tiled roof with coped gables.
Brick with pilaster-strips between bays carried above parapet as capped piers.
Arched windows with hood moulds. Arched doorway with hood mould and medallion
over with representation of the St Bartholomew's Hospital seal, but head twisted
in error through a right angle.
