House. C16 or earlier, altered in late C17. Very small
timberframed, facing W. Once extended to N and is remarkable for
formerly being open to the roof from end to end (RCHM
Typescript). One and a half storeys. Plastered and with a steep
old red tile roof half-hipped to S but gabled to N where there is
an external gable chimney in red brick. Large gabled dormer
sitting on the front wall plate. Upper part of front decorated
with incised circles. 2 windows and off-centre plank door.
Wooden casement windows, 4-light in dormer. Black painted
plinth. Plastered one and a half storeys short rear wing with
gabled old red tile roof and weatherboard apron to lower part of
walls. The interior has stud partitions and inserted floor of
late C17 (RCHM Typescript). Probably the house shown on the
Clintons Estate map of 1588 (HRO).
