Farmhouse. Late C17 or early C18; altered.
Handmade red brick in English garden wall bond (3+1) on stone
plinth, composition tile roof.
Three-unit lobby-entry plan with projecting porch and added
rear wing. Two low storeys, 2:1:1 windows, with a 2-storey
gabled porch at the junction of the 2nd and 3rd bays. This has
a square-headed doorway with altered door, and a 2-light
casement above. Otherwise, both floors have horizontal-sliding
sashes of 2 and 2 lights, those at ground floor with segmental
relieving arches. Ridge chimney at the junction of the 2nd and
3rd bays.
Attached to the right-hand gable is a high screen wall (the
back of a C19 outbuilding) which links to the associated barn
(q.v.).
Rear: blocked doorway near east end, and blocked window next
to this; one-unit service wing with sliding sash window at
ground floor and casement above; porch in angle.
INTERIOR: some chamfered beams, and at the left end of the
range a c.1700 dog-legged staircase with closed string, turned
balusters and moulded handrail.
GARDEN WALL: shallow front garden enclosed by wall of red
brick except for the right-hand end and its return which are
of sandstone rubble brought to courses, with rounded coping.
Forms group with barn approx. 6m east (q.v.).
