Chadwell Lodge
II
House. Located to east of No.43 (qv), and original access
taken through carriageway at its right. Mid C19 (after 1851).
Stone-built, with squared, coursed rubble, and ashlar plat
band, window surrounds and quoins. Broad-eaved Welsh-slated
roof, carried on paired cut profiled console brackets, with
moulded fascias and barge boards. Elaborate stone chimneys
with recessed slate panels and stone oversailing cornice
carried on consoles. Rear chimneys to service areas are brick.
2 storeys. South elevations has projecting centre with ashlar
engaged antae with Tuscan capitals and moulded bases, extended
upwards through plat band and first floor. Central front door
with stone surround, and segmental lintel above. Tripartite
window above, with broad ledge at first floor level carried on
corbels. One sash window, with glazing bars, left and right,
on ground and first floors.
