3/37 Milestone at NGR ST 6944 2654

Milestone. Probably C19. Doulting stone with cast iron plaque. Stone about
400mm wide x 250mm thick, about 800mm tall, with rounded top. Plaque about
400mm wide and 500mm deep, with shouldered semi-circular top and double
ogee base, andreads "Wincanton" - on curve- "Sherborne 8" in incised
letters. This road was maintained by the Wincanton Trust possibly from
1818.
