II

House: mid C18 with early-mid C19 alterations and additions. Flemish
bond orange brick with yellow headers on sandstone plinth. Hipped
Welsh slate roof and 3 brick chimneys. Double-pile plan, later
extended. Core of house has 2-storey, 3-bay front. Modillion
cornice. 16-pane sashes with flat, wedged stone heads and stone
sills. Rebated semi-circular gauged and rubbed brick head to doorcase
with plain wooden columns. Fanlight with radial glazing bars and
marginal lights and a 6-panelled door. In front of lower storey is a
cast-iron verandah on a stone flag base with 4 uprights and scrolled
brackets to frieze, all with open geometric designs. 1-storey
extension to right has a 16-pane sash.
Interior: Staircase with brackets on open string, plain square
balusters and mahogany handrail. Some undistinguished early Victorian
work.
