2/279 Dairy House Farmhouse.

Farmhouse: early C18 with some small C19 and C20 alterations. English
garden wall bond orange brick. Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge
and 4 brick chimneys. 2 and 2½-storey 7-bay south front. Raised brick
band at 1st floor. Right 3 bays of 2½ storeys have 3-light C20 copies
of wooden mullioned and transomed windows with glazing bars under flat
wedged brick heads flanking added gabled porch with a 4-panelled door
behind. Above is a mullioned and transomed window in a gabled half
dormer. 3 bays to left, of 2 storeys, are part of original building
with similar mullioned and transomed windows and a blocked fire window
below 2-light casements above. Left end bay is part of an added then
converted farm building. To rear are original windows with one of the
top panels sliding horizontally.
Interior: has dogleg oak stair with square newels, heavy square
handrail and a similar rail halfway down. 2 3-board doors in lower
storeys and complete set to attic. Chamfered ceiling beams and
firebeam in room at left end, and a room to rear still is a dairy with
stone flag ledges and central table.
