C18 house although said to have been originally built before 1700. Post C18 altertions.
North front white brick, south front tile hung. Tiled roof, chimney suggests C17
date. 2 storeys, some dormers, 7 windows, sashes with glazing bars. South front
very irregular. Caroline Anne Bowles lived here until her marriage in 1839 and
again after Southeys' death in 1843 until her own death in 1854.

No 86 its garden wall and gate and the barn at No 86, form a group with No 88 and
its garden wall.
