In the garden of the former Crown Inn (now Monkey House). Set diagonally to road.
Mid to late C18. 2 storeys with 1 window each to east. Mid C19 1 window lean-to
extension. Red brick; old tile roof, half-hipped north and south. 1st floor and
gable of north front tile-hung except below cat-slide to west. 2-light casement
windows, single light in south extension. 1 window to north. Plank door to right of
east front. Another door to right of south extension. East front has tall chimney
rising between main part of cottage and lean-to extension. This extension is tiled;
also slate-hung in half gable and above on south wall of main part. The old toll
gate was approximately 150 feet east of the cottage in front of the Inn.
